Summer Learning Program
Following the Winston Prep model, our curated summer program is designed to provide a highly individualized learning experience for young adults, ages 17-21+, with diverse learning profiles. Through individualized 1:1 instruction, students receive focused support, meaningful feedback, and the flexibility to dive deeper into content areas that spark curiosity and strengthen essential skills.

Course and Enrollment Options

Students may enroll in one course or combine multiple offerings to create a well-rounded and engaging summer schedule tailored to their needs.

Once a week for 45 minutes (6 sessions)

Twice weekly for 45 minutes (12 sessions)

  • Focus

    Students engage with a dedicated Focus Teacher, receiving personalized support tailored to their academic needs and social-emotional development. This individualized approach fosters confidence, growth, and a deeper connection to learning.
  • Employability Skills

    To support career readiness, students will build essential soft skills, explore career interests, and develop confidence in professional settings. Emphasis will be placed on job research, resume building, interview etiquette, workplace protocols, and onboarding processes, helping students strengthen self-advocacy and long-term career planning.
  • Creative Projects

    Students will have the opportunity to express themselves and explore their interests through individualized creative projects. Whether through visual arts, digital media, or hands-on design, this course nurtures imagination and originality while developing planning, execution, and presentation skills in a supportive and structured setting.
  • English Language Arts

    Through a focus on reading, writing, and discussion, students will enhance their literacy and critical thinking skills. Lessons will encourage students to analyze diverse texts, express ideas clearly, and build strong communication skills, foundations for success in academic, professional, and social environments.
  • Management and Organization

    This course is designed to support independence and daily functioning. Emphasis will be placed on time management, planning, prioritization, and problem-solving skills so students can learn to manage personal routines, effectively use calendars and schedules, understand commute routes, and establish practical organizational systems.
  • Social Communication

    Students will build and refine their social communication skills in both professional and community-based environments. Through structured lessons, role-playing, and real-world practice, students will gain confidence in navigating conversations, interpreting social cues, and forming meaningful interpersonal connections.

  • When is the deadline to apply?

    Application Deadline: June 2, 2025
  • What materials do I need to submit?

    To complete the 2025 Summer Program application, please make sure you have the following documents ready to upload:
    • Your child's most recent report card
    • Educational evaluation (i.e., Psychoeducational Evaluation, IEP, etc.)
    • Recent photograph of your child
    Please Note: Current Transitions students do not need submit these documents.
     
    If an educational evaluation is not available, two teacher recommendations describing your child’s academic/learning/social profile are required. Please email those to wtsummerprogram@winstonprep.edu
  • Who teaches the summer program at Transitions?

    Winston Transitions Summer Program teachers primarily consist of reading specialists, special education instructors, learning specialists, and speech and language pathologists from our full-time faculty.
