The Summer Program at WPS is an extension of the WPS philosophy, principles and model that takes place during the summer months. It provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence. The strength of the Summer Enrichment Program has always been and remains the individualized education for each student. Classes do not exceed eight pupils per class, with most classes averaging four students per class. There is also a very high teacher-to-student ratio during the summer.

Who attends?

Students from fourth through twelfth grades from private, public, mainstream and special education settings come to WPS seeking to improve their academic skills. Students come from various Fairfield and Westchester county locations. Enrollment in the Summer Program is approximately 30 students, of which an average of 55% are from WPS. Students from AITE-Stamford, Eagle Hill, Franklin Academy, Villa Maria, as well as surrounding areas of Darien, Easton, Fairfield, Greenwich, Hamden, New Canaan, Norwalk, Ridgefield, Stamford, Trumbull, Weston and Westport public schools participate in our summer program.

With a small, closely-knit staff of WPS teachers, the high degree of communication among faculty allows instructors to use the Continuous Feedback System to maximize the growth potential of each student. Close communication with parents continues throughout the summer and parents are updated weekly. Most teachers have more than two or three years of experience teaching in the Summer Program.
