Winston Preparatory School is a co-ed day school for 4th through 12th-grade students with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities, expressive or receptive language disorders, and executive functioning problems. Our mission is to facilitate the independence of individuals with learning difficulties through assessment-driven individualized education, research, and outreach.
Our unique educational program for 4th-12th grade students with learning differences is designed to develop essential skills and challenge his or her strengths. As part of our learning program, every student benefits from the Focus Program, in which each student receives a daily period of one-to-one instruction concentrating on his or her greatest area of need. The implementation of the program allows us to further personalize instruction and strategies so that our students can better understand themselves, as well as verbalize their needs to become independent learners.
Focus teachers provide individualized remediation for students struggling with a wide-range of learning differences while coordinating and facilitating consistent communication between classroom teachers and families. Content teachers deliver instruction in core content areas (Math, Science, English/Language Arts, History/Social Studies, etc.) with a focus on flexibly integrating a wide range of skills and content tailored to the individual needs of student class groupings.
The successful candidate will be a highly-skilled, creative thinker who is flexible and works well within a team environment. Candidates must also have excellent writing and communication skills.
The nature of the position allows for someone with a varied background. We are proud of our diverse student body and are actively seeking candidates who reflect the diversity of our school's community.
