Winston places a great emphasis on involving our students in community service opportunities.  Students are provided with valuable opportunities to develop the qualities of a sustainable and independent learner in contexts outside of the classroom. Our mission is for our students to develop an understanding and appreciation for their community while facilitating a sense of self and independence.
At WPSNJ, student involvement is encouraged at all levels- from generating ideas about what causes to focus on, to deciding how to raise money or awareness, to creating flyers, and going around to make announcements and talk about the event, as well as organizing and running the events. We believe that through student participation in community service, our students self-esteem and confidence increase.  Students are proud of their ability to get involved and make a difference.

Share the Warmth

WPSNJ’s inaugural project was a “Share The Warmth” collection drive in which we collected IMG_0786blankets, coats, hats, gloves and toiletries, which were then donated to The Community Soup Kitchen in Morristown.

Breakfast Club

We established a weekly “Breakfast Club” fundraiser, which benefited Morristown’s Meals on Wheels- Adopt a Senior Citizen program. 100% of our students participated on some level, whether students helped to design the flyers, helped to set the sale up each week, or supported the event by purchasing and enjoying a community breakfast at school.

Food Drive

WPSNJ students participated in a canned food drive in which they collected and donated over 150 lbs of food to The Community FoodBank of New Jersey.  A group of students then delivered the donation to the warehouse and participated in a project in which they helped label close to 1,000 cans of soup, which could then be distributed through the food bank. The group worked together beautifully and everyone came away knowing that they made a positive difference.

Thank You

Thank you to all of our students and families who have participated. Your continued support is truly appreciated.
