The Theatre Arts Program at Winston Prep is comprehensive in regard to all aspects of performing arts.
Past productions have included full productions of The Uninvited, The Miracle Worker, Animal Farm and Oliver where a third of our student body participated. The production designs are by professional staff who offer the students an opportunity to work alongside working and dedicated artists in regard to Lighting, Sound, Costume and Set Design. Students participate through an audition and interview process, however, all participate in some form. The curriculum seeks to enhance problem solving and communication skills, while providing a viable outlet for structured creative expression.
The goal of the art curriculum at WPSCT is to guide students toward self-discovery through the process of creating art.
The students are encouraged to hone artistic skills through their understanding of art as a language that can be learned, rather than a gift that can only be inherited. Focus is placed on the process of making art a vehicle for problem solving, artistic sensitivity, and imaginative thinking. The classes, consisting of ceramics, cartooning and sculpture, are geared toward building confidence in the students through the success that can be achieved by exploring imagination, generating works of art and expanding knowledge base.
