Community Day & In-Person Volunteer Trip to Riverdale Y

See description for information about the in-person volunteer trip.
Students who are able to join teachers at the Riverdale YMHA for another unique opportunity with their older population. Students and the older adults will be paired up for about an hour to get to know each other through a series of prompts/discussion. This will incorporate communication and perspective-taking skills these students are currently practicing in school.

Our student volunteers will then be invited to have lunch with the older adults with the intent of learning each other’s history and background, and are invited to attend the movie and discussion after lunch.

This community service trip will run from 10:00am to 2:00pm, lunch included, and students who attend will be marked present for the day. If students do not want to stay for the movie/discussion, they can be picked up at 12:30pm. This trip is a great opportunity for our students to give back to others in the community, as well as provide them with a chance to bond with their classmates in person.

If they do not attend this trip, students will instead participate in our virtual Community Day.
