Using Research to Support Students & Teachers

At Winston Prep, each assessment period measures student growth and learning outcomes. It also helps us improve our programming for students and professional development for faculty. This ensures we can create the most responsive, effective, and individualized approach for each student.

How Winston Prep Uses Data to Guide Programming

Assessment data is the foundation of our faculty professional learning program. The Winston Innovation Lab (WIL) analyzes our students’ academic achievement and social-emotional learning needs to guide our planning and development.

Additionally, WIL incorporates feedback from our faculty about their learning interests. This helps the WIL team develop both live and online learning resources for teachers.

A Look Into Professional Development at Winston Prep

The WIL team works to continuously improve professional development for faculty based on research and evidence-based practices (EBPs). Professional development aims to enhance our teachers' comprehension of learning and learning disabilities. It also links faculty with effective learning strategies and teaching methods to support their students.

Winston Prep offers professional development to help teachers stay current with the latest research in education and learning differences. During the school year, WIL provides on-demand access and live training designed for each teacher's experience level.

The goal is to help all our students develop skills that matter most in order to achieve independence and long-term success. A few of these skills include problem-solving, resilience, self-advocacy, and self-regulation. In addition, our programming fosters learning environments where students feel understood.

Supporting Faculty

Winston Innovation Lab helps Winston Prep faculty create tailored remediation plans that are essential to each student's experience. These plans rely on understanding each student’s needs and strengths.

This approach ensures that every student’s program is tailored specifically to their needs. As a result, we see meaningful growth in both academics and social-emotional skills.
