The Summer Enrichment Program at Winston Prep is an extension of the Winston Prep philosophy, principles and model that takes place during the summer months. It provides students with the unique opportunity to participate in an individually designed program for students with learning disabilities aimed to enhance academic skills and foster independence.
This summer, the Winston Prep campuses in New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey and Long Island, NY will host Summer Enrichment Programs.
New York City: Monday through Friday, June 28th - July 22nd (first session) and July 26th - August 12th, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (second session)
Connecticut: Monday through Friday, June 30th – July 30th, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m
New Jersey: Monday through Friday, July 6th – 30th, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:50 p.m
Long Island: Monday through Friday, June 29th – July 27th, from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
Students are grouped according to skill level and learning style in small classes of no more than eight students. Additionally, each student receives daily one-on-one instruction targeting areas of greatest need within Winston Prep’s Focus program. The program is designed to develop language, decoding/encoding, reading comprehension, writing, math, test preparation, organization and time management skills at each student’s appropriate level of engagement.
Students with learning differences entering grades 3 through 12 from private, public, mainstream, and special educational settings come to Winston Prep seeking to improve their academic skills. Grade levels may vary by campus.
Summer Program teachers primarily consist of reading specialists, special education instructors, learning specialists, and speech and language pathologists from Winston Prep’s full-time faculty. With a small, close-knit staff of WPS teachers, the high degree of communication amongst faculty allows instructors to use the Continuous Feedback System to maximize the growth potential of each student. Moreover, regular communication with parents takes place throughout the summer and parents are updated weekly on goals and progress.
In addition to daily one-on-one Focus sessions, students will be enrolled in the following courses:
