  • We Are a Unique School for Learning Differences

Our unique model of education provides intense skill remediation within groups of similar learners and one-on-one remediation. At the same time, we encourage students to build independence, resilience, responsibility, self-awareness, and self-advocacy. Our focus on the whole learner makes us one of the most successful CT schools for learning disabilities.
  • We Are Proponents of an Individualized Education

We deeply understand each student. That attention to student strengths and needs allows our educators to individualize a program for each learner. Students’ individual needs are met through their daily participation in group and one-to-one sessions.

Winston Prep is the only private special education school in CT that follows this evidence-based Focus program.
  • We Are Always Looking for Growth

It’s important to us that students work with their one-to-one instructors every school day. It allows Winston Prep teachers to continually refine each student’s program based on their day-to-day progress. When goals are current, timely, and achievable, students do not fall through the cracks.
  • We Are a Student-Centered Community

Self-reflection plays a major role in deciding when a student is ready to work toward new goals. Winston Prep is one of the few special needs schools in CT where students are always part of the conversation. Our flexible, student-centered approach to learning helps us build a powerful sense of community. You won’t find this level of kinship and camaraderie at other schools in Norwalk!

  • From Our Head of School Stephanie Zabar

"We need you to open a school here” was the recurring request from professionals, parents, and educators. As a result, Winston Preparatory School opened its Norwalk, CT campus in September 2007. At that time, we provided 40 ‘pioneer’ families with the opportunity to benefit from the WPS mission. They got to experience our ‘education for the individual’ philosophy firsthand.
